Description

The 2018 vintage began with a relatively late budburst, due to particularly rainy winter conditions. However, this rainfall is necessary to properly recharge the water tables in the cool terroirs where the white wine plots are located. Flowering, fruit set, and veraison all proceeded perfectly.


The harvest lasted from September 5th to 11th under very favorable weather conditions. It began with the Muscadelle harvest, followed by the Sauvignon Blanc, the predominant grape variety in the vineyard. The harvest finally concluded with the Sémillon. Harvesting took place exclusively in the morning to prevent the grapes from suffering from the particularly high afternoon temperatures.

Upon arrival at the winery, the berries were in remarkable health. Since 2013, three types of technical processes have been possible: direct pressing without destemming, direct pressing with destemming, or pressing after cold maceration for twelve hours under dry ice. The grape variety and berry quality determine the grapes' final selection. After fermentation, conducted primarily in barrels (two-thirds versus one-third in vats), aging on lees begins in October and ends six months later, just before bottling in April.

With a brilliant pale yellow color, the 2018 Blanc de Lynch-Bages reveals aromas of citrus and white peaches. The attack is lively and the mid-palate is full-bodied. It stands out for its volume, freshness, and beautiful aromatic persistence.
